So I know we said this a million times at the reception, but here it is again: THANK YOU, ALL OF YOU who came to our wedding. I was super honoured to have so many of our friends be able to come and share this with us. And I have to go real soon because the next Portkey leaves in like 20 minutes. But! See you in a few weeks!
Don't do anything stupid while we're gone. If you can't help it, then at least take photographs.
- G.B. CATTERMOLE.

Working with dragons is kind of a given occupational hazard, so of course -- you train yourself to be extra careful and VILIGANT (as our Head Keeper likes to say!) of your surroundings. You also modify your behaviour when you're on the Reserve so that you don't do anything that obviously annoys, disturbs or frightens the dragons. So, for the most part, I feel pretty confident and safe about working there because I've had risk assesment drilled into my head for so long, it's like second-nature when I'm at work.
The fact that I broke my arm after a fall in the middle of a pick-up football game, then, is a bit sad. I wish it was a more exciting story, like, one of the dragons got loose and in the ensuing struggle, I was flung into a tree and despite my broken arm, managed to subdue the creature after all. Then I could look heroic and everyone could say, "Wow, Gavin, that's so cool!" and I would say something like, "Oh, it's just my job. Not a big deal."
On second thoughts, it's probably better that it wasn't an exciting story.

I'm curious, what was Skively watching when he fell into his WWN-TV? Wizard vs. Wild would be a fun show to get stuck on, I think. I mean, obviously you'd have to find Jared Gruffydd or you'd be fucked and eaten by a sphinx or a basilisk. Actually, does anyone know if there are any recorded incidents where a basilisk has consumed human prey? I looked into the Hogwarts Basilisk for my NEWTs, but that one didn't eat Moaning Myrtle's body, did it?
I should probably know this.
